Creativity Coaches are similar to life coaches, but focus more specifically on your creative work and artistic career. At Creating Crimson, our coaching services are intended to help you develop strategies and skills that will ultimately assist you with accomplishing professional and personal artistic dreams.
Creating Crimson is a "boutique" service; meaning we design each session specifically for each client.
Outcomes are based on each individual clients personal and professional goals. Owner and lead coach, Kenya McGuire Johnson, is a practicing independent artist (vocalist/songwriter) who also has a master of arts degree in counseling. This unique combination of professional and personal artistic experience allows her to guide each client in developing various aspects of an artist's journey.
Creating Crimson is NOT:
- Mental Health Counseling Service
- Psychologist Services
- Medical Services
- Art Therapy
- Music Therapy
Instead, we provide coaching sessions that:
- Help you understand and push past the creative blocks that stand in the way of your projects.
- Inspire you to think bigger and work more productively to develop your ideas and feelings into meaningful creative projects.
- Help you overcome the doubts, fears, anxieties, and worries that so often hinder the creative mind.
- Listen, educate, and develop your artistic career and/or interests so that your work evolves and shines.
- Refer you to various entertainment industry professionals who may further assist with artistic development.

Our goal is to provide individualized creativity coaching services geared towards the individual needs of each client.
This is done by a 5-step process:
Client makes an initial contact and Creating Crimson schedules an appointment
Creating Crimson coach provides a consultation to determine the needs and expectations of the client
Creating Crimson makes recommendations based on the consultation
Client chooses coaching services to begin mentoring and to determine personal goals based on recommendations
Creating Crimson and the client collaborate in developing strategies to make game plan and accomplish client goals
Creating Crimson offers different coaching service packages. After the initial consultation and client evaluation, clients are encouraged to receive at least two 1 hr sessions monthly to maximize their development in the coaching process. Each client selects the package that meets their needs and is the most practical for their lifestyle. Our goal is to offer affordable packages for each client. Due to the variety of needs, rates for packages are discussed once the client makes an initial contact with Creating Crimson.

Kenya M. Johnson
Kenya McGuire Johnson, is a Soul and Jazz practicing independent vocalist/ songwriter who also has a master of arts degree in counseling. Kenya's recent album, My Own Skin (2015), hit #1 on the UK Soul Chart. Her music has also hit top 40 on the R&B Soul Billboard Charts as well as Top 50 on independent smooth jazz radio charts. This unique combination of professional and personal artistic experience allows her to guide each client in developing various aspects of an artist's journey.
Dr. William Smith
W.E.S. (Dr. William E. Smith) is a producer, musician, composer, author and professor of music technology. As a saxophonist, he has a unique sound and creates music to fit any mood and situation from jazz, hip hop, rock, classical, ambient, world or techno. He holds a PhD in ethnomusicology and has written books focused on the music business and industry. Dr. Smith brings a unique perspective to clients by providing incredible insight and strategies to improving artists' business acumen while also developing their artistic brand.
Stephanie "Nialand" Hearon
Stephanie Hearon, musically known as "Nialand", is a Soul, Hip Hop, and Jazz singer, songwriter, performer, and show producer. She has performed with, recorded, and/or written for artists such as MC Lyte, Lupe Fiasco, Chico DeBarge, Malik Yusef, Kanye West, J.Ivy, Tarrey Torae, Roy Ayers and many more. Her expertise is in the areas of independent artist development, producing independent shows, marketing and branding through graphic and web design, and empowering artists to build their businesses and flow within their purpose. Nia's services will consist of a 4 week online course and begin in late April.
